MY FAMILY LAW MEDIATION SERVICES

WHY ME:

  • accredited by the Ontario Association of Family Mediators

  • mediates parenting arrangements, child support, spousal support, and property issues

  • conducts thorough screening for abuse and power imbalances and where mediation is appropriate, will adjust mediation strategies

  • where appropriate, able to be very directive with “reality checks” (without giving legal advice)

  • prepares well drafted Mediation Summary Reports (follow link)

  • 35+ years experience as a family law lawyer

    • extensive experience drafting terms for Separation Agreements and Minutes of Settlement,
      with an attention to wording that is effective

    • child focused (articled with and was on the panel for the Office of the Children’s Lawyer)

    • understands complex family law issues​

  • works well with lawyers and encourages their participation

  • conducts thorough screening for abuse and power imbalances
    and where mediation is appropriate, will adjust mediation strategies

  • reasonable rates ($200 per hour)

  • learn about family law mediation

Mediations:

  • "closed" mediations only

  • only cases where the law of Ontario applies 

  • parties strongly encouraged to have their own lawyers

  • appropriate disclosure required

  • any of the family law issues

  • by Zoom only (not in-person)

  • flexible availability for meeting times

FEES:

  • intake for each client -- $200 for up to 1.5 hours
    each client is responsible for their own intake (unless they agree otherwise in writing)

  • mediation (whether individual or joint meetings); reviewing materials; communications, preparation of Mediation Summary Report -- $200 per hour
    cost to be shared between the parties, in a proportion agreed to in advance in writing
